What you need to get started

(we take care of everything)

A valid passport.

5 fototessere formato passaporto (fisiche).

We’ll take care of everything else.

You don’t need to speak Spanish.

*NOTE: Protect Your Wealth takes care of obtaining all the following requirements for the client. The client doesn’t have to worry about anything.

Here are the requirements necessary to obtain residency in Panama:

  • Prove of being a citizen of your country of origin: you need to present a certificate of citizenship, apostilled for Panama, translated into Spanish in Panama by a certified translator (we will need to know your last place of residence in your country of origin to obtain it).
  • Prove of having a clean criminal record in your country of origin: you need the criminal record from your contry of origin (not to be confused with the certificate of pending charges or the criminal certificate), apostilled for Panama, translated into Spanish in Panama by a certified translator.
  • Prove of your financial solvency in Panama: We will open a personal account for you in Panama, where you will need to deposit at least $5,000 (which you can later withdraw). Immediately after, we will request a certificate from the Panamanian bank confirming the account balance. The certificate must be dated, stamped by the bank, and manually signed by a bank official.
  • Specification on the minimum deposit:
  • $5,000 → the request is for 1 person.
  • $15,000 → the request is for husband and wife (she must have the same citizenship as you and have no criminal convictions).
  • $20,000 → the request is for husband, wife, and at least 1 child*.
  • *A person can include their wife/husband and children in their residence request.

  • For requests that include husband and wife, it is necessary to show the marriage certificate, apostilled for Panama, translated into Spanish in Panama by a certified translator (we take care of everything).

  • Children must be minors. If they are over 18, they cannot be older than 23 years old and must declare that they live under the same roof as the applicant, and they must prove that they are single (i.e., not married) and studying (enrolled in high school or university).

  • For one or more minor children, it is necessary to show the full birth certificate (which also shows the parents’ names), citizenship certificate, criminal record, residence certificate, family status certificate, and cumulative certificate, all apostilled for Panama, translated into Spanish in Panama by a certified translator (we take care of everything).

  • For one or more adult children, the following documents should be added to the ones listed above: certificate of single status and a document (to be assessed on a case-by-case basis) to prove that they are studying. All documents must be apostilled for Panama, translated into Spanish in Panama by a certified translator (we take care of everything).
  • Prove that you have a valid economic reason for obtaining residency. This can be done in two ways:
  • Or you can establish a company in Panama where you hold at least 50% of the shares. The company requires at least 3 directors, who will be public, and do not necessarily have to be Panamanian (they can also be 3 non-Panamanian companies). Protect Your Wealth can provide fiduciary directors.

  • Or you can demonstrate that a local Panamanian company wants to hire you.* Protect Your Wealth can assist the client in both cases. Everything is included in our service.
One of our Relationship Managers will provide you with continuous assistance throughout the entire process.

How to obtain your residency in Panama

Here are the steps.

*NOTE: if the client wishes, during their stays in Panama, they will have access to a bilingual assistant (Native in his language and Spanish) ready to guide him through the following steps.

PHASE

The client goes to Panama and stays for 5 business days (or longer, if desired).

Day 1.

The client goes to the Panamanian lawyer to sign the power of attorney so they can represent them at Immigration (by law, the power of attorney must be signed locally).

Day 2, 3, 4.

The client is free.

Day 5.

The client goes to Immigration with the lawyer, where they will have a photo taken and receive the temporary residence permit (valid for 6 months) on the spot. During these 6 months, Immigration will finalize the client’s permanent residence application. Within these 6 months, Immigration will issue a document called “resolución,” which certifies that the client is a permanent resident.

PHASE

The client returns to Panama and stays for 2 business days. This is to collect the permanent residence permit and apply for the identity card (cédula E) at the Electoral Tribunal of Panama. The identity card will be ready in 8 days; we will handle the collection (via power of attorney) and shipping (via FedEx or DHL to anywhere in the world).

Total duration for obtaining it: 7 months (anyone who promises less is lying).

Are they asking much less for your residency in Panama? Be careful…

Many companies lure you in by offering residency in Panama for $2-3,000, but in reality:

Those $2-3,000 only and exclusively cover the lawyer's fee (who prepares a document, fills out the application form, and goes to immigration 3 times). That's it.

They do not include the opening of the account in Panama.

They do not include the obtaining of the bank certificate, dated, stamped, and manually signed by a bank officer, confirming the account balance.

They do not include the establishment of the Panamanian company.

They do not include a Relationship Manager always available to you throughout the entire process.

They do not include on-site support from a bilingual assistant (native in both your native language and Spanish) ready to guide you through every step of the process, if you wish.

They do not include the retrieval of the necessary documents for your residency application.

They do not include the apostille of these documents by a notary.

They do not include the translation into Spanish in Panama by a certified translator.

They do not include the application for the "cédula E" (Panamanian identity card).

They do not include the application for the RUC (personal tax ID number).

All these costs will be revealed later, in installments, often resulting in higher expenses and much more time lost.

We do things differently:

We open a Panamanian Bank account for you REMOTELY: (you can use it as you wish right away).

We obtain the bank certificate for you, dated, stamped, and manually signed by a bank officer, confirming the account balance.

We open a Panamanian company for you (new, your own, without "selling" you the shares of an already existing company, with the risk that your residency may be revoked).

Continuous assistance: each of our clients has a dedicated Relationship Manager, who keeps them updated throughout the various steps of the service and provides support in case of any doubts or questions.

On-site assistance: for those who wish, during their stays in Panama, we provide a bilingual assistant (Native in the client’s language and Spanish).

We take care of everything: we retrieve all the documents necessary for you to obtain your residency in Panama (passport photos excluded).

We have your documents apostilled by our notaries.

We have your documents translated into Spanish in Panama by certified translators.

We apply for the “cédula E” (Panamanian identity card) once the “carnet permanente” (permanent residence permit) is obtained.

We apply for the RUC (personal tax ID) for you - if you wish.

The benefits of residency in Panama

A stable country, notoriously private and uncooperative. Privacy, anonymity, and protection in Panama are essential and deeply rooted in the country's culture.

The possibility of obtaining a Panamanian passport after 5 years. Some Latin nationalities can obtain it sooner (for example: Colombians, after just 1 year).

Personal income fully tax-free if it comes from outside Panama.

Stable banks, Panama has been an important offshore hub for decades.

Companies selling outside Panama have minimal reporting requirements.

Panama offers some of the most sophisticated asset protection tools, such as the Private Interest Foundation, where funds are segregated and completely untouchable (interesting: after 3 years, they are protected even if their origin is legally challenged).

PEARL: Combining a foundation with a Panamanian account opened with Panamanian residency becomes a powerful ally in protecting your assets.

Excellent quality of life, Panama is among the top countries in the world for happiness and value for money.

In Panama, the concept of “piercing the corporate veil” does not exist: companies are never considered “transparent” by Panamanian authorities. A company is treated as a separate entity (as it should be).

It’s permanent: it never expires. You are a lifelong resident of the country. No obligation to return to the country.

Territorial taxation: income generated outside of Panama is not taxed.

Crypto friendly.
